Wetblasting Challenge

We recently wet blasted pistons and crank shafts for a major manufacturer in the United States. We were challenged to do the following:

New pistons – Remove burrs without dimensionally changing the pistons

New pistons – Provide an overall bright matt finish with consistency on the overall piston

Crank shafts – Provide an overall bright matt finish with consistency on the overall piston

Black labelling removal – Remove custom labelling without dimensionally changing the piston

We were successful on all points! Because wetblasting is more “forgiving” than dry blasting these things could be accomplished. Wetblasting is ideal when parts are sensitive to material removal. Wetblasting is also more operator friendly because its much more difficult to over-blast and damage the part. So if you have become frustrated with all the dry blasting “issues”, send us some parts and we will be happy to show you what wetblasting can do for you.
